Barnes & Noble to Feature Virginia Civil War Novels:Kim Murphy's Promise & Honor and Honor & Glory
February 27, 2004 -- In celebration of Womens' History Month local author Kim Murphy will portray her novels, Promise & Honor and Honor & Glory, at Barnes & Noble in Harrisonburg, Virginia, Thursday, March 18 at 7:00 p.m. Set in Civil War Virginia, the novels' powerful message is timeless as it follows the path of sisters through the devastation the civilians faced. Murphy will appear in Civil War attire as she brings the books' settings to life through period photos, illustrations, and historical info.
The Midwest Book Review declares Murphy's Promise & Honor "...an outstanding work of compelling romantic drama from the first page to the last." RT Bookclub gave Honor & Glory a 4-star review, calling it, "...a remarkable balance between the ravages of war and hate and the hope and rebirth created by love in an extraordinary time."
Murphy, an Illinois native, says of her critically acclaimed novels, "Few people truly understand that with food, clothing, and medicine shortages throughout the South, women and children were forced to struggle for survival just as much as the men in combat. They're not simply tales of battles and generals, but love stories as well as historical ones. I've attracted everyone from romance fans to male readers who don't normally read 'women's fiction.'"
Both books are available in trade paperback from Coachlight Press for $14.95. The novels can
be purchased from most fine bookstores and from www.CoachlightPress.com. For more information about the author, please visit www.KimMurphy.Net.
